About Hypnosis

A couple of words about hypnosis and then we’ll go ahead and get started.  Many times people report that they don’t feel like they were hypnotized.  So, I ask, if you were hypnotized, how would it have felt?

If this is your first time with hypnosis then here is what I ask you to agree to right now.  Do not expect to feel any different than you do right now.  Just a little more relaxed.  Hypnosis is kind of an allusive feeling, when you experience it at first, sometimes you are not really aware that what you are experiencing is actually hypnosis.  You may not feel extremely deep levels at first either.  However, the truth is most changes do not require a deep level of hypnosis.  Most of what we are going to work with will deal with your ability to concentrate.  So, instead of worrying about whether you think you are hypnotized or not, just think about deeply concentrating on what I am saying to you.

Please don’t put any expectations on yourself to feel any of the ways you might think hypnosis is supposed to feel.  If you haven’t experienced it before it’s likely not going to feel like you think it will.

On the other hand, after a time period of time, you will come to know a certain familiarity that goes along with whatever state you do experience.  You will just come to know a certain feeling that tells you that you are in it.

Sometimes people get a little TOO drowsy in hypnosis and they fall asleep and they ask if they if this is still effective.  I say that it is still having some impact on your subconscious mind, in much the same way that television has some impact on your mind if you fall asleep to it.  However, I while the subconscious mind is 90% of your mind AND is the more powerful part of your mind, you need your conscious mind alert, awake, and focused in order to assimilate the suggestions I give you and to draw the pictures I ask you to draw.  So, do whatever you need to do to keep yourself awake.
